How WriteWise Coach works.

Students write their own drafts. The AI gives rubric-based feedback. Teachers and tutors review it. Students revise and improve.

1

Choose a writing prompt

Students select a NAPLAN-style persuasive or narrative prompt from the prompt bank, or a parent, tutor, or teacher assigns one to them. Timed or untimed practice is supported.

Prompts are designed around the text types and challenge levels used in NAPLAN and selective school placement assessments.

2

Write your own draft

The student writes their response in full — in their own words, without AI assistance. WriteWise Coach does not generate any text for students to copy or submit.

There is no autocomplete, no AI suggestions while writing. The draft is entirely the student's own work.

3

Receive rubric-based feedback

The AI scores the draft against nine criteria and produces a report with evidence quoted directly from the student's own writing.

Criteria include audience, text structure, ideas, vocabulary, cohesion, paragraphing, sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling.

4

Complete the revision task

Each report includes one specific revision challenge targeting the student's lowest-scoring criterion. The student rewrites that section in their own words.

The revision is not a rewrite from the AI. It is a coaching prompt that guides the student to improve a specific skill.

5

Track progress over time

Scores across multiple submissions are tracked so students, parents, and teachers can see improvement across each criterion over time.

Progress is visible per criterion — so you can see vocabulary improving even if overall scores fluctuate.

What the AI does and does not do

The AI does

  • ✓Score writing against a fixed rubric
  • ✓Quote evidence from the student's own words
  • ✓Identify a strength and a focus area
  • ✓Suggest one specific revision task
  • ✓Track scores across multiple submissions

The AI does not

  • ✕Generate full essays for students to submit
  • ✕Provide autocomplete or in-line suggestions
  • ✕Replace teacher or tutor judgement
  • ✕Give open-ended chat responses
  • ✕Train on student writing data

Frequently asked questions

Who reviews the AI feedback before the student sees it?
For school and tutor accounts, every AI-generated report enters a moderation queue. The assigned teacher or tutor reviews, adjusts if needed, and approves before delivery. For parent-managed accounts, reports are delivered immediately but parents can review them before sharing with the child.
What happens if the AI makes a mistake?
Teachers and tutors can adjust any criterion score and add their own comments before approving a report. AI scores are advisory. The teacher always has final say.
How often should students practise?
Two to four practice sessions per month is a reasonable cadence for most students. More frequent practice is beneficial in the weeks before NAPLAN or a selective school test.
Can parents and students access the same account?
Parent and student accounts are linked. Parents can see every report, track progress, and review feedback. Students see their own reports and revision tasks.
